Autel Hosts TPMS Training Clinic

Farmingdale, NY — Autel held its first TPMS training clinic for close to 50 automotive technicians in its New York Offices on December 19, 2016. In the evening-long presentation, Autel US’ Vice President Gary DeLuca focused on everything TPMS, combining a history and overview of the systems implementation with a detailed instructional how-to on servicing the system. Underlining this discussion was the theme that shops that intelligently manage TPMS repairs have the opportunity to access an untapped revenue stream.
Attendees spoke of their frustration servicing tire pressure monitoring systems and the complications involved in diagnosing the system to find the fault. The confusion regarding TPMS relearn procedures was also discussed. Mr. DeLuca highlighted Autel’s TPMS tools’ unique features such as the TPMS status screen that displays the cause of the system fault — a bad sensor or an incorrectly registered ID—and the tool’s built-in “relearn” procedure library for all domestic, Asian and European vehicles equipped with TPMS.
There was an in-depth look at Autel’s revolutionary MaxiSYS 906TS, a robust android tablet with an embedded antenna capable of performing every step in TPMS repair from activation, to sensor programming to module relearn. Mr. DeLuca discussed the industry’s three types of replacement sensors — direct fit, multi-fit and programmable—outlining each of the type’s pros and cons. Finally, Mr. DeLuca demonstrated the ease of programming Autel’s MX-Sensors that can be programmed to replace 98 percent of the sensors on the road today.
